Freelance Trainer – Your Responsibilities

You will be delivering training on our behalf, to the highest possible standard; this is essentially both to our public scheduled and also, where necessary, to a number of bespoke courses. Most of these courses are of course, in both data communications cabling and fibre optic cabling. You must be proficient in the delivery of this training at all levels – including advanced. It would be a significant advantage to be able to deliver training in related applications, e.g., network design and planning, datacentre operation and management, CD/PMD testing.

To achieve the very highest quality training as set out by Total Comms Training and its associated accreditations.
To assist in the development of related training courses and other delivery mechanisms. We would also anticipate that trainers maintain an up-to-date skills set through personal development and accreditation activities
To work with clients to create courses and courseware for their internal bespoke training
To support Sales and other internal departments with specialist advice and support on an ad-hoc basis

Essential Qualifications & Experience

You will need to have proven experience in the delivery of Communications Cabling – data and fibre – in the both the classroom environment, as well as in the practical scenario. You should be conversant with City and Guilds level 2 series: 3668 201, 202, & 203 as well as the City and Guilds level 3 series: 3668-03

You should have a working knowledge of copper cabling termination techniques from a variety of manufacturers, an extensive knowledge of testing parameters and a thorough understanding of Fluke testing equipment, i.e., DTX 1200/1800 series; DSX 5000/8000 – knowledge of other platforms, such as Trend Networks and AEM woulkd be a definite advantage.

You should be conversant with fibre optic cabling connectorisation  termination techniques including spliced on and fast termination; a working knowldge of older connectorisation techniques i.e., anaerobic, hot melt etc would be advantageous.  You should also be familiar with splicing – both fusion and mechanical splicing: you should also have a thorough understanding of fibre optic testing to include ILM, OLTS, Encircled Flux, OTDR and event mapping.

You will be expected to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to share your expertise with others, as well as being subject to regular peer review

You should ideally have experience in creating new courses – from planning and creating the course outline and script, through to dry run, pilot and delivery to your peer group
Excellent standard of written and verbal communications as well as computer skills in all the standard Microsoft programmes

You need to flexibility to travel to deliver training at different site locations both in the UK and within Europe, the middle east, India and Africa.

Standard qualifications; such as C & G 3668 201/202/203 – in addition, other related accreditations such as FIA certified trainer, TAQA assessor award would be advantageous

You should have your own public liability insurance, a full UK passport with six months min remaining, as well as full clean UK driving license.

You must be a permanent UK resident
