Our Remote Classroom City and Guilds 104 course allows you to join and participate with us, it’s live, and interactive and you will receive the same content you would have in our real classroom ‘in centre’. The only difference is that you sit in your own home to take part.
Our classes will be limited to a maximum of 4 candiates per course to allow you and the trainer to have full interaction.

This intensive 3-day training course will provide delegates with the knowledge and installation skills that are needed to install, terminate and test copper cabling for datacomms structured cabling data networks.
This course covers the key tasks that have to be performed on datacomms cabling that is installed within the built environment, within the premises, in an internal environment; this includes commercial office environments, public buildings, hospitals, airports, and datacentres as well as other types of buildings where networks are deployed. The installation skills and underpinning knowledge gained on the course can be applied to all types of data cabling, as used for commercial environments, including large office datacabling systems, premises networks and industrial communications cabling networks. We also look at the latest trends in SoHo networks..
The course focuses on key aspects of health and safety, the correct selection of tools, equipment and components as well as the correct working practises that are typically used for the installation of network cabling and structured cabling that support the transmission of data, voice and video.
Throughout the course, we reference the main standards used in the communications cabling industry: TIA/EIA 568 (C Series), ISO 11801, BSEN 50173/50174, BS 6701.

This course is aimed at datacomms engineers looking to prove their installation skills and professionalism. It is also applicable to individuals who are in allied trades, for example, electricians and telecomms engineers who wish to increase and broaden their range of skills.
This City & Guilds 3667-02:104 course is the recognised qualification for professional datacomms cabling and structured cabling installers and is on the established UK’s regulated qualifications framework (RQF)
- Current terminologies in use as applied to copper communication data cabling
- Health and Safety: copper data cabling in an internal environment
- Basic electrical theory and principles with reference to datacomms cabling
- Recommended data cabling installation procedures in accordance with standards
- Data cable presentations, i.e. RJ45, Keystone Jack.
- Data cable performance categories (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) ISO Class D, E, Ea, F, Fa
- Termination of communication cabling
- Telephony installation, Cable tracing, Jumpering & Testing.
- Fault find copper communication data cabling
- Testing cabling link performance against recognised standards
- Interpret test results

This course does NOT include the examination or practical session. Due to the Covid-19 situation all exams and practical sessions are on hold, you will therefore be asked to book these seperatley when they become available.
All candidates are assessed via a examination comprising of 25 multiple choice questions – this is an “closed book” examination and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds e -volve system.
There is also a timed practical assessment where delegates will install and test a data cabling link (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a – Class D/E/Ea. All test results are recorded/saved.

The exam & practical session cost is an additional £154+vat – this will not be payable until we are able to run them in guidance with government advice.
This VRQ is designed to contribute towards the knowledge and understanding for the related Level 2 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence, while containing additional skills and knowledge which go beyond the scope of the National Occupational Standards.
Successful delegates will be qualfied to a fully accredited level 2 qualification in copper cabling in an Internal Environment.
Delegates are provided with a full colour comprehensive course manual to work through during the course.
PLEASE NOTE: All practical assessements are carried out in a SIMULATED environment and are fully supervised by your trainer and assessor throughout the assessment process – full delegate guidance will be provided.
